First Date Ideas

The first date is the first chance you get to show your online romance that you’re not just a profile on a site; you’re a real person with the capability to charm, romance and love. Your choice of first date says a lot about you and will either make or break the romance. A lot of people underestimate the power of a well-executed first date. Your behaviour, dress, style, the way you talk, the topics you speak about, the location you choose, your manners and your body language are all essential to show your date what kind of person you are offline. It is essential, therefore, that you are original, creative and interesting (for goodness sakes, skip the cinema and pizza date!). Top-Dating UK knows how hard it can be to decide what to do on the first date so here are some of our favourite first date ideas to be used as a guide to charm your beautiful and lovely date:

1) The Brighton Date

Okay, this can be a bit crazy for the average Londoner and some may argue that it is a bit too extreme for a first date, but why not? If things are going well between you online then getting away from the city to discover more about each other without fear of bumping into ex’s or judgemental Londoners? The 2 hour train ride is a great chance to break the ice with genuine conversation: start off lightly and show off your sense of humour then dig deeper and learn more about your date. Buy some fish and chips at one of the best chippies in Brighton (we suggest Bankers!) and have it to take away. Sit at the seafront and enjoy your meal (mind the seagulls!). Then take a walk through the Laines, looking through all the quirky shops and buying some fresh homemade fudge to munch on while exploring the town. Spend the evening at the Pier, trying all the crazy rides and laughing with your date, showing her you’re an outgoing, daring and fun person. You may even enjoy going to the Brighton Wheel, being up in the sky and perhaps taking the opportunity to hold her hand or kiss her for the first time.

2) Dance Date

Book a fun dance class for you and your date for an exciting and unique dating experience. It’s a chance to see each other in a different light and there won’t be any gaps in conversation as the music will not allow you to have any awkward conversations. Laugh and smile while shamelessly having your hands on your date and let the music guide your steps and your heart. It will be great fun even if you’re a bad dancer and it’s a huge topic to chat about when you go out to eat or for a coffee afterwards. It is a great way to break the ice and you avoid the beginning awkwardness. Choosing a dance class will also show your date that you’re dynamic, daring, fun and a little bit nutty. What more could she ask for?

3) Farm date

Get your hands dirty and offer your date the most organic date of her life! Why not go fruit picking together? Tell her to bring some wellies and pick apples, strawberries and raspberries together while talking about fond childhood memories and silly stories. This will be a great way to get to know each other if you are looking for a serious and long-term relationship. You want a girl who knows what she’s about, who is hard-working and not always bothered about her hair and nails. So see if this is the kind of person she is. Sit on the grass and eat apples while learning more and more about each other and figuring out whether or not there is chemistry. Play tag amongst the apple trees and enjoy each other’s companies without any conversation gaps.

4) Dessert Date

Skip the wining and dining and go straight to dessert. No need for the girl to feel pressured into avoiding dessert for fear of making you think she’s greedy, because the whole date is just dessert. Let’s be honest, dessert makes the first date scenario less awkward, more fun, more smiles. Oh and you save a lot of money too! Go to a dessert shop like Tinseltown or Creams and order milkshakes, crepes, waffles, sundaes or whatever you like! You can take the treat to take away and take a long evening walk through the city all whilst learning about each other and not having to sit face-to-face. This can make the conversation easier as you’re walking side by side and looking at each other often below the stars…

5) Picnic Date

This is a truly underestimated date idea and can give your date a super first impression that cannot be beaten. Bring along some sandwiches (jam and butter, nutella, cucumber and cream cheese?), cute cupcakes and nibbles along with a flask of hot coffee and a big bottle of Coke (with beaker cups of course). Don’t forget the picnic blanket, napkins, cutlery and plates! Invite her to a family park if you’re feeling a bit shy or a isolated green if you want to get to know her as much as possible on the first date. Totally up to you and there’s so many ways to really spark her interest… The effort you put into the date already shows her how much you are interested in her and will likely incite an equal response.
